This week’s CrossFit Deep Athlete Feature is Kay Knox, a total bad ass inside and out of the gym.
Kay first started CrossFitting three years ago, but has been a part of the CrossFit Deep community for a little over a year. Prior to joining CrossFit Deep a year ago, Kay kept in shape by lifting weights at a “regular gym” and running.
Thankfully, Kay found CrossFit to give her fitness an extra boost in seeing her performance change.
“I am continually improving my technique for all the lifts and movements”
Kay also credits the small-group style coaching and community in helping reach her fitness goals.
“The coaches and athletes are so great at inspiring me to push myself harder and improve in other areas too, like eating cleaner.”
You’ll hardly every see Kay miss a day in the gym, unless she’s putting out a fire (literally). Kay is a firefighter for Dallas County. Kay will also be at the gym if there’s a deadlift involved, because it’s her favorite movement.
“I love deadlift, because I get to put LOTS of plates on the bar!”
This year Kay has set out to master two CrossFit skills.
“This is THE year that I will get consistent, unbroken double-under AND my first muscle-up!”
We know she will get these in no time!
You can typically find Kay in the afternoon and evening classes at CrossFit Deep with her two adorable little pups. Outside the gym and being a full-time firefighter, Kay enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, and spending time with her family and friends!
